This weekend when you “Spring forward” and move your clocks forward, it’s also a perfect time to take care of a few other maintenance items that should be handled twice a year: your smoke detectors and wiper blades. Both help ensure the safety of your loved ones. Fire safety experts suggest your change the batteries in your smoke detectors in the fall and spring when you change your clocks. We would like to add to this safety list and urge you to also change your wiper blades when you change your clocks.
Midwest winters are tough on your wiper blades. You drive through blowing snow expecting them to keep your view clear. They are either frozen to your windshield or you hit and damage them with your ice scrapper. The American Optometric Association reports that 90 percent of driving decisions are based on visibility.
So, don’t wait until you’re in the middle of a thunderstorm with faulty blades; change them when you change your clocks. Stop by any Arnold Motor Supply store, we’ll make sure you get the right blade for your vehicles, and even change them for you if you ask.
